The Rest of the Weekend

First and foremost – go rent “Waitress”. It came out last year and was betrayed by whoever was supposed to be marketing it. Jon and I watched it last night and it was one of the best movies that I’ve seen in a while. I liked it as much as I liked Juno, except I have the feeling I’ll love this one more and more each time I watch it (I still love Juno, but some of the dialogue gets tedious the second and third time. Don’t you think? Anyone? Anyone? No? Maybe?).

Second – I let Jon pick the movie this weekend and he chose Hellboy. Which ended up being pretty much just what I expected (very fantastical, but otherwise not even worth another word)…but I’d just like to say that if you’d like to wet your pants in terror, then look up a trailer for “Quarantine”. The preview played before our movie and it took five years off my life.

Third, I got released from my calling on Sunday. I was only in Young Women’s for about six months, but the rest of the presidency has been in for a couple of years, so they released us all. No new calling yet, but I’ve been told not to get “too comfortable”.

And fourth, we spent some time in Borders the other night, a day or two after “Breaking Dawn” was released (The fourth and final installment of the Twilight series) and just for fun, I picked up a copy and flipped to the end to see if I could find out the finale by skimming a couple of pages. I KID YOU NOT, I opened the book up directly to THIS PAGE.

Sorry for the blurriness, but please look at the FIRST WORDS on the FIRST (and only) PAGE I LOOKED AT. Thank you, Stephanie Meyer. Thank you. Really. I mean it. You made my night. You really did.

PS- I don't think "chuckle" means what she thinks it means. Is it really possible to "laugh inwardly or quietly" "expressing great joy or triumph"? Hm. You decide.

And I promise that this is the last time I'll mention these books.

  1. I love both "Waitress" and "Juno", and would highly recommend both of these movies.

We watched "Cloverfield" over the weekend. I wanted to cry with boredom.

And I'm pretty sure you know how I feel about "Twilight." :)

So, how hot is AZ right now?

  3. well my first choice was Batman, but somebody got scared. I threw Hellboy in as an option to assure a swift choice and eventual viewing of Batman. Not going to say Hellboy was good, because honestly the first one was better and that is not saying much AT ALL. Reverse psychology never works when it should. Boo

  5. Fight, fight, fight! ;)
Yeah, I'm staying strong and resisting Twilight. The peer pressure here to read them is insane but I'm staying strong!!
I will however go rent "Waitress" I loved Juno.

  6. And one more thing, did you read "Seriously So Blessed's" comments before she/he erased the ones from "randy speed"? They were pretty outright rude/funny.

  7. Okay, um, Batman, GREATEST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN!!! I'm not kidding, Heath Ledger seriously outdid himself in this one, I'd watch it over and over just to see his acting. And also waitress, one of my favorite all-time movies. Oh and also, don't see Batman unless it's on the big screen. I'm talking as big as you can. Like IMAX if possible.

  8. So, I read a summary of "Breaking Dawn" last night. I also read one of Eclipse, because I still haven't read it.

I was reading in disbelief, and I thought that the story I was reading had to be a joke. One of the most ridiculous things I have read in a long time. I am now an official hater.

  9. Found you through comments on Seriously So Blessed. I'm surrounded by my Mormon SILs who *love* the Twilight series - so glad to come across a Mormon who doesn't!
