Easter Bomb

Happy Easter! We skipped baskets this year, and missed the majority of sacrament meeting, so that should give you a good indication of how much we celebrate that holiday around here. Although we did dye some hard-boiled eggs yesterday.

(Yes, the pink egg at the top says "fupa". Penny has a fupa, and it's hilarious.)

They made for some delicious and colorful egg salad sandwiches that accompanied us on our drive through Saguaro National Park today.

Anyway, that was our Easter.

Um...so....Did I mention something about a 'bomb' in the subject of this post? Hmm...Oh yeah. Almost forgot. I found out today that Jon's ex-fiance from Rexburg moved to Tucson and has been in our ward for MONTHS.

Chew on THAT!

And Another One's Gone...

It came as a huge shock to me when I realized that we leave for Paris in about two weeks. Two weeks and two days. We’ve had this trip planned for months, and it always seemed to be so far in the future…but it snuck up on me! I’m worried now that I haven’t put enough thought into it. I started lists about two months ago, and then forgot about them. One list is called “Don’t Forget!” (not like I wrote down ‘socks’ or ‘shirts’ or anything. Just the things that would really, really screw up our trip if we forgot them. Like ‘camera’, ‘travel pillows’, ‘contacts’, and ‘umbrella’.) and the other list is called “Things To Do”. Right now, that list is pretty boring. But I figure that I’ve always wanted to go to Paris, and we’ll be there for nine days, so we might as well do EVERYTHING – all the touristy stuff – and that way I never have to go back to Paris again. Unless I really want to. But it seems like there’s so much other stuff to do in Europe, why do the same thing twice? So I just have to get Paris out of my system. And I plan to do that by seeing and experiencing everything I possibly can. I plan on walking up the Eiffel Tower (despite a fateful day at a North Carolina lighthouse, and even though apparently you can’t go all the way up unless you take the elevator). I plan on spending a day in the Louvre, seeing Versailles, walking towards the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs Elysees, going to a food market, blah blah blah. And during the next two weeks, I’ll be reading as much as I can about French history and monuments as I can, so that I actually understand what I’m seeing when I see it. And that’s about all I have to say about that.

Last week, my office was rocked by the news that Jesus is quitting, and his two week’s notice was followed closely by my friend Angel’s. We’re dropping like flies around here. My office is seriously completely different from how it was when I was hired. There were 19 people, including me, when I first began, and now there are 23, only 10 of whom were on the original list. Including me.

Other than all that stuff, there’s really no news. Jon is in Lewiston, Idaho for the next couple of days. He hasn’t been traveling as much since January, which has been nice. Back in September/October/November/first-half of December last year, he was home, on average, about ten days a month. This trip to Idaho is the end of a two-week break from traveling for him, so it’s been nice to have him home.

So, I know that this is a really random post, but here’s another change of subject. I just experienced one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth…a Sonoran hot dog. Think of a wiener wrapped in bacon then fried, placed in a delicious canoe-style bun, topped with pinto beans, tomatoes, grilled onions, mayo, and mustard. It was amazing.

(I’m sure people from Sonora, Mexico are pretty confused when they see an American hot dog for the first time.)

Anyway, Jon gets back Friday, so after I force him to eat one of those things, we’re going to dye Easter eggs, get some work done on the Mazda so we can have our registration renewed (Arizona requires emissions testing each year and we FAILED!), and finish our taxes. Should be pretty uneventful…

Confession Friday

My confession is this: I am planning on stealing more than one dance move from this beautiful work of choreography.

It pretty much speaks for itself, so I'm just going to put a quick list on here called...

"Moments of Particular Interest:"

1:13-1:43 - Basically everything about the human chain/pinwheel effect that happens during this time span is awesome. If I had 10 friends, I would force us to all get together just so we could do this.

1:48 - I only WISH I could move like Guy-in-Front.

2:07 - I fully intend on forcing Jon to carry me across a room like this couple. You'll know it when you see it.

2:27 - The hottie lead singer deliberately faces stage right, then does a weird scoop step out of view. (I’m going to try to incorporate this into as many situations as I can. Someone annoying talking to me? Scoop step off camera. I say something really stupid? Scoop step off camera.)

2:30 - Listen closely to the female lead singer. "I love you, I do can be so tender...". Language barriers are awesome.

I honestly can't thank Corinne enough for introducing me to this music video, and I only hope it brings you as much joy as it does me.

Shhh...!

So, apparently one night in Rexburg, there was some sort of dripping noise outside of our bedroom. I have no recollection of this, but I guess that I partially woke up for long enough to notice this dripping noise that was coming from outside (it may or may not have been raining…), and on my way back out, I muttered to no one in particular that it sounded like there was a dead person inside the wall, dripping blood. And I left Jon wide awake, wondering why the heck someone would say a thing like that. And also halfway wondering if our neighbor had hidden a body in the wall joining our apartments. I’m really not a dark person at all, so I have no clue how I came to that conclusion in my 90-percent-asleep mind. Creepy.

But not as creepy as the time that we were house-sitting for my parents, and as we lay in bed, this rhythmic tapping began on the outside of the bedroom wall. And it was definitely not raining this time. Tap-tap TAP, tap, tap, Tap-tap TAP, tap, tap. If you ever took music lessons in elementary school, think of it like this: Tee-tee ta, ta, ta / Tee-tee ta, ta, ta. With extra emphasis on the first “ta”. (Ms. Browning would be proud. That woman was a marvel. All I remember is A) her name, B) the fact that she constantly wiped her nose by using the palm of her hand in a forceful upward stroke, and C) that she was never self-conscious to say “tee-tee” in front of a room full of 3rd graders.) Anyway, this tapping noise went on for over an hour. Or maybe a half an hour. I don’t remember for sure. But either way, it crept us out.

Okay...I’m putting together another post that I will hopefully get to publish later on today. My in-laws are in town, though, so depending on our plans for the night, it might be tomorrow that it actually comes together…

I Got Tagged

Apparently I've been tagged in a blog-style tag-fest (Jon's sister Kelsey tagged me, and I actually checked her friends list to see if there were any other Jessies on there, but I guess I'm the only one. Wouldn't that be funny though, if she was like "I didn't mean YOU!"?) ...and I have to post these questions with my own answers.

1. What was I doing ten years ago?

I was twelve, so, um..going to middle school (seventh grade sucked), doing homework, going to church...going to church activities...I was really really lame back then. I mean it.

2. Five things on my to-do list today:

The day is almost over, so no fair. Take a shower, clean the kitchen, give the dog a bath, watch Jeopardy, go to sleep. (---NEXT DAY UPDATE---I only accomplished two of those tasks.)

3. What snacks do I enjoy?

Girl Scout cookies (Samoas..mmm...), cottage cheese, malts and milkshakes, raspberries in cream with sugar.

4. What would I do if I were suddenly a billionaire?

Smile?

5. Three bad habits:

Furrowing my brow (it gives me a vertical wrinkle up my forehead and Jon always laughs at me)
Picking my cuticles (ew)
Cracking my joints (ew)

6. Five places I've lived:

Rexburg
Kansas
Virginia
Las Vegas
Tucson

7. 5 jobs I've had:

Busgirl at B'Sghetti's Restaurant (yes, I'm aware that that is the tackiest, most terrible restaurant name EVER)
Kid's Club Leader (after-school day-camp)
Sales Associate (Banana Republic...Br for short)
Janitor, specializing in cleaning bathrooms and vacuuming hallways (It paid really well...)
Receptionist

And now I'm supposed to tag five more people, but I have a fear that I don't know five more people with blogs. Plus, I don't know who has already done it. Um, Kenzie? Caylee? ...Alicia? Dangit, that's only three! I'm a failure!
